2011 BASEBALL COACHING STAFF Varsity Coaches
Head Coach
- Scott Lowery
(Read the 2011 Welcome Letter from Coach Lowery) Coach Lowery is a 1995 graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School where he was a 3 year letterman in football and baseball. Coach Lowery attended both Jefferson State Community College and the University of Montevallo on a baseball scholarship. While at Jeff State he was a member of the JUCO Alabama State Championship team, which also finished 3rd in the nation. Coach Lowery was a 2 year starting catcher for the University of Montevallo. During his senior season the Montevallo team set a school record for most wins in a single season with 44. Coach Lowery was also a graduate assistant for the University of Montevallo. Coach Lowery coached at Riverchase Middle School and Pelham High School where he coached varsity and junior varsity baseball before coming to Pleasant Grove. Coach Lowery served as the JV head coach for PGHS in 2006. Most recently Coach Lowery served as the assistant varsity coach at PGHS for the last three years (2007-2009).

Varsity - David Box Coach Box is a 1997 graduate of Greenville High School. He played football at Jacksonville State University before attending and graduating from Falkner University with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education. Coach Box coached at Talladega, B.B. Comer & Ohatchee High Schools before coming to Pleasant Grove, earning his science certification in the meantime. This is Coach Box's eighth year teaching and coaching.

Assistant - Aaron Langston Coach Langston graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 2007 receiving an advanced academic diploma. He played for the Spartans from 2004 to 2007. Aaron has had the privilege to travel to Costa Rica to play and spread the spirit of the game through the American Baseball Foundation. His senior year he was voted Most Involved and honored with induction into the Pleasant Grove Hall of Fame. Aaron is currently attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham majoring in secondary education. Coach Langston is entering his 4th season as a member of the Spartan coaching staff.

- Zack Willard Coach Willard is a 2000 graduate of Southside High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He attended Gadsden State Community College and Auburn University. Coach Willard received a degree from Auburn University in Physical Education. He is currently in his 5th year of teaching Physical Education at Pleasant Grove Elementary. Coach Willard is also the 8th grade boys basketball coach. In his free time Coach Willard enjoys playing golf and watching the Atlanta Braves. This is Coach Willard's 4th year with PGHS baseball and most recently served as the JV assistant for the past three years.

Head
Coach - Chris Holder Coach Holder attend high school in Chattanooga, TN at the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts and played one year of baseball there and was selected to the All-County Baseball Team. He later moved to Robertsdale, AL and played baseball for three years at Robertsdale High School. Coach Holder attended college at Lee University in Cleveland, TN and graduated in 2010. This is his first year at Pleasant Grove Middle School.

Assistant - Nathan Langston Coach Langston is a 2007 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. He played for the Spartans from 2004 to 2007. This is Coach Langston's 3rd year with Pleasant Grove baseball as a coach. He has traveled overseas with the American Baseball Foundation to teach and play baseball in Costa Rica. Coach Langston was a 2007 inductee into the Pleasant Grove High School Hall of Fame and is also the biggest hockey fan on staff. Coach Langston also currently sits 2nd in Spartan baseball history for innings pitched in a season which he set his senior year at Pleasant Grove.
